Frequently Asked Questions
Why treat early?
60% of facial development is completed by age 8 and 90% by age 12 therefore early treatment allows growth to be guided correctly in order to achieve harmonised facial structures and reach maximum genetic potential
In almost all situations early treatment can eliminate the need to extract healthy adult teeth.
In severe situations early treatment may eliminate the need for surgery or if surgery is inevitable it can reduce the complexity of the surgery thus minimise the risk of permanent nerve damage to the jaws and easier recovery
Early treatment may eliminate the need for braces later on because the jaws are developed to the ideal size and position so adult teeth can erupt into favourable positions, or if braces are still needed it makes it easier and shorter treatment time
Early treatment may result in better breathing and sleep which may lead to elimination of bed wetting, improve skin and breathing conditions, improve digestion, improve blood circulation, prevent ear, nose and throat issues.
Early treatment to correct myofunctional issues, eliminate physical airway obstructions, treat sleep disordered breathing, treat parafunctional habits, correct crossbites and treat pain issues
Early treatment to eliminate sleep disordered breathing. If left untreated, sleep disordered breathing can affect your child’s brain development resulting in memory and learning difficulties due to a 10-20 point reduction in IQ, behavioural problems such as ADHD, inhibit normal growth, weaken immune system, increase risks of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes and obesity
