Missing teeth

Your teeth are designed to work together to help you chew, speak and smile. When teeth are missing, it is difficult to do these things. Even the loss of a back tooth may cause your mouth to shift and your face look older.  Having a missing tooth or teeth can be unsightly and cause significant chewing problems. There are several means to replace missing teeth which include implants, bridges or dentures. At Redland Bay Smiles our dentists will discuss the pros and cons of each with you as well as the associated costs.

Implant

Dental Implants are a more permanent solution for missing teeth. Getting a dental implant involves having a metal screw implanted into the jaw. This is the anchor. Attached to this anchor is an artificial tooth, or crown, that replaces the natural tooth that was previously in that position.

Dental bridges are held solidly in place by abutments that are attached to the neighbouring teeth. We make dental bridges from a variety of materials, although porcelain is preferred by most people as it allows us to blend it more easily with the natural colour of the surrounding teeth.

Denture

Removable partial/complete dentures are for patients who need dentures in place of single/multiple missing gaps. It is an effective solution for multiple gaps, however, is uncomfortable and feels weak when biting.
